Jackie Pine, Executive Director of Early Stages, began her career in Boston as a dancer/choreographer. Her interest in film and video led her to the WGBH New Television Workshop where she co-produced dance video and films with such artists as Charles Atlas, Bill Irwin, Merce Cunningham, and later worked as  script supervisor on  feature films directed by Joanne Akalaitus, John Russell and John Sayles. In 1997, as Co-Producer of the Nantucket Film Festival, she steered the fledging festival through its crucial second year. Since joining Early Stages in 1998 Ms. Pine has created and developed the Early Stages’ Storytelling Program, a comprehensive arts education program serving over 15,000 New York City public school students each year. This  highly successful program has grown to include schoolwide Artist residency programs, professional development, family storytelling. Also over the past 10 years she has overseen the Early Stages Live Theater Program which has brought over 50,000 students to the best theater, dance and music performances that New York City has to offer. Both programs foster literacy through the arts and prepare students and families to fully participate in the  world class performing arts that the city has to offer.
