Caron Levis (with Early Stages since 2007) has been a New York City teaching artist for several years. Using storytelling, creative drama, and writing, she teaches self awareness, social, emotional, communication, and literacy skills to kids of all ages, teachers, and parents. She has taught in all five boroughs of NYC, in both private and public schools. She has a BA from Tufts University, an MFA in Creative Writing for Children & Young Adults from the New School University, and has studied acting at the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. Caron was invited to participate in and has completed teaching artist professional development programs offered by ATA & NYSAAE, Community Word Project, and Marquis Studio. Her short story Permission Slip recently won the 2209 SLS Unified Literary Contest and will be published in Fence Magazine. She is also the winner of the 2008 New School Chapbook contest in the category of writing for children and young adults.
