Kewulay Kamara (with Early Stages since 2008) Poet and storyteller from Sierra Leone living in New York City. His is from a long line of Mandeng Fina orators, historians and poets. Kewulay has been featured at Cooper Union, The Kitchen, Alice Tully Hall, City Center, the American Museum of Natural History and the Museum of African Arts as a poet, storyteller and master of ceremonies. He has been featured in the New York Times, The Daily News and on CNN and NPR and he appears with his family in the long running Sesame Street program, A Day in the Life of Kalie. As a writer, his work has appeared in Black Scholar and Teachers and Writers. Kewulay’s current productions include Songolon Jata, Fina Misa Kule and Voices of the Kings all of which have received notable praise. He is a Professor in the African American Studies Department at John Jay College for Criminal Justice.
